“DECA is a business organization that has allowed me to explore different career paths in the business field and has given me the opportunity to put my skills to use in real world situations,” stated by 2018-2019 State President and senior Emily Czarniecki.

Recently, DECA has competed at one of the most exciting conferences of the year, states. Here, participants compete in a multitude of different roleplay activities in subject areas such as: marketing, business management and administration, finance, and hospitality and tourism.

At this year’s states competition many successes were made, including junior Bassit Fijabi’s huge victory in being elected as 2019-2020 MI State DECA Secretary. President and senior Katelyn Blevins got a roleplay medal and senior Geena Bommarito was a state qualifier and also got a roleplay medal. 2018-2019 State President and senior Emily Czarniecki also had an extremely successful weekend.

“The state conference for me was very, very busy but so worth it! As State President, I was able to speak in front of all 4,300 DECA members in attendance and hand out awards to the students advancing to the International Conference in April!” Czarniecki stated.
