Letter to the editor; why is Valentine’s Day celebrated?

Melanie Davis '19, Editor

Some people say Valentine’s Day is celebrated with our husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends. Are they right?

No, Valentine’s Day is not celebrated with only our husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends. It is celebrated with the people we love, anyone we care about; our moms, dads, friends, sisters, nieces, nephews and all of our family members. It doesn’t matter who we celebrate it with. As far as the person is someone you care about. Someone who you would feel sorry for when something bad happens to.

Valentine’s Day as we no know is not celebrated with only husbands, wives, boyfriends and girlfriends. But it is celebrated with people we love. So ask yourself, why do we celebrated Valentine’s Day? Valentine’ Day is celebrated to appreciate our loved ones. To appreciate that they were there on Christmas, on New Year, in the time we wanted them. It is celebrated to show people we love how happy we are for them being with us. For them understanding and sharing our sad moments, hard moments, through troubles and temptations. SO, don’t be mad if you don’t have a boyfriend, girlfriend or husband or wife to celebrate with because we celebrate it to appreciate love.
